The mighty oak tree continues to support life long after it has fallen.

Take time to celebrate trees and notice all that they give to the cycle of

life.

Materials: Sculpture: clay stoneware fired to cone 6 with oxides and
acrylic paint. Book: paper and stamp

Artist Statement

This sculpture celebrates the life of an oak beyond the majestic living
tree. The hollowed log now supports life. 21 ladybugs have found a
safe home within. The sculpture invites the viewer to find all 21 while
they’re out at play. One has traveled quite far. The flip book adds
additional interaction with the piece.

As an artist I work with clay and paper and often combine pottery and
book arts. I enjoy adding a bit of playfulness to my creations. I
continue to like counting games pleased with this sculpture/book
combination.
