Description
Ryegate, VT
Amy Madden of Vermentos, a resident of the Northeast Kingdom, uses nature as both inspiration and raw material for her art and craft creations. A lifelong collector and gatherer, she is constantly noticing small seasonal treasures throughout her wanderings—from the arrival of the earliest wildflowers to the acorns that usher in autumn.
Whether pouring wax impressions to make recycled sterling silver jewelry, layering foliage for cyanotype photographs or drawing natural elements for printmaking and textile designs, Vermentos captures a spirit of time and place here in Vermont and preserves it as a keepsake to adorn the body and home.
This birdhouse combines colored pencils on top of cyanotypes and embossed brass sheet. The ferns and wildflowers used in the cyanotypes were gathered around Caledonia County.
