Master Weaver Kathy Litchfield’s work is about the interplay of colors, combined within simple or complex weave structures, inspired by nature and the magical world around us. Her scarves, shawls, ponchos and home textiles are unusual in their colorways, unique in their design and infused with the positive energy that Kathy exudes. Almost every piece is one-of-a-kind and woven on 8- or 16-harness floor looms, with the intention of offering beautiful wearable art to individuals expressing their own beauty in the world we share. She earned her master’s in weaving certificate from the Hill Institute in Northampton, Mass. in June, 2018. She has studied weaving intensively with local master weavers as well as internationally-recognized professional weavers from England, South America and the U.S. and learned specific weaving techniques from numerous other teachers at the New England Weavers Seminar (NEWS) bi-annual conference. She is always embracing new weave structures and learning new things, which keeps weaving a lifelong and joyful pursuit. Kathy has been a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen since 2016 and of the Weavers of Western Mass guild since 2006. She sells her work at numerous high-end juried craft shows annually.
