Since studying art in Edinburgh, Scotland UK where her artistic influences began, Caroline waited for her opportunity to pursue her love of fused glass full time.
She lives in the middle of Vermont in the small town of Bristol, on a 200-year-old dairy farm with one of those iconic red barns that is surrounded by the Green Mountains. It’s a perfect location to enjoy her own workshop space, make beautifully crafted glassware, and a space in which she hopes to start giving workshops and teaching her craft. Virtual or in-person studio visits are welcomed by appointment, as is commissioned work.
This Vermont artist brings together a composition of harmonious elements to produce a range of unique, and functionalglass tableware, decorative home accents and seasonal ornaments. She is driven by her passion to keep learning and exploring her craft, in particular, her love of Petrified Wood glass and her popular Vermont themed glassware. Attention to detail and presentation are important aspects of her work.
“The composition of our natural landscape here in Vermont and of my Scottish homeland with the changing seasons, the mountains, the trees, the rivers, the lakes, and the ever-changing dramatic skies are the harmonious elements that inspire my glass art. The first snowy Winter in Vermont with my love of geometric symmetry, and the complex patterns that snowflakes form in different temperatures inspired me to create my first snowflake ornament, and from there my business grew. I love the fluidity, the painterly aspects, and tactile qualities that can be achieved working with fused glass, and delight in how light reflects colors, and depth of layers in the pieces I create.When the kiln lid opens a magical surprise awaits… it has become a family event to reveal the alchemy that takes place in kiln overnight.”
