“Color and Movement”

I am mostly a watercolor artist but I incorporate gouache and acrylic into my pieces. My styles range from a semi-representational, modern style with use of negative space and saturated color to create a sense of movement and pop. I love painting subjects with lots of color and detail–I see each shadow, highlight, and color within an object as its own shape–its own being. Vermont is a tree-painter’s delight! I capture the connection of each shape with a negative-space outline, giving every shade and hue of an object movement and dimension. I take inspiration from this beautiful state all the time and this birdhouse captures some of that inspiration!
